Description
Nicholas has recently defended his PhD in Aerospace Engineering at Case Western Reserve University where he performed hypersonic experiments in a Mach 6 wind tunnel and was named a 'Rising Star' from the AIAA Aerodynamic Measurement Technology technical committee at SciTech 2025 for his work on modal decomposition of hypersonic flows. He has interned at NASA Langley where he was involved with developed first-of-its-kind self-aligned focusing schlieren Zemax simulations and analyzed both Mach 10 shock-boundary layer interaction and scramjet combustor image data. He also interned at Lawrence Livermore National Lab where he developed a plenoptic imaging system capable of taking time-resolved images of high-speed, micron size particles and reconstructing their positions 3D space. This summer he will be starting a position as a post-doctoral experimental physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. Come and learn more about Nicholas and his journey in our final Speaker Series of the Spring 2025 Semester.
